Getting to know Lu Laoshi Part 2

In this part, Shi Hui shares one of the important tips she learned from our Compo and Oral course! - How to plan out a strategy for Compo? - At Lu Lao Shi’s, there are ways for us to score well in our composition. The most important way is for us to 审题, by doing this we are able to instruct ourselves what we want to write during the composition. How to 审题? During the first 5 minutes of the examination, our main goal is to see if we would like to do 命题 or 看图. Although most school teachers instruct us not to do 命题 if the 看图 has nothing to write about, challenge yourself to try out 命题! After that, start instructing yourself what name you want the main character(s) to be. Following that, write in all the good phrases so that when you start writing you will know what good phrases or sentences you will like to write. Most importantly, the ending. You should plan out the quote, e.g. 所谓:“前事不忘,后事之师”and the learning points the character learnt in advance. This way we will be able to

A Special Note for Parents whose Children are taking PSLE 2016

June Holidays is most critical for Primary 6s as this is the only time they can extensively revise Pri 4-6 content for all subjects. Parents can plan revision schedule with them to keep them in control of their own studies. As the heat of PSLE kicks in, students are advised to get stay in health with adequate rest and water. It’s also a good time to start on chicken of essence or ginseng regime at home.  With regard to Chinese, parents can safely leave the tension to me. I will highlight to you areas which I need home support in. Once school reopens in July, it is normal to see your child ‘snap’ under tension or ‘slack’ after too much drilling. Do stay in close communication to manage your child’s pressure. Most secondary schools have posted their DSA registrations by now. Those interested in DSA, kindly visit the secondary school’s website for further information. Special note that School of Science & Technology only accepts students via DSA and not by PSLE results.
